Justice
This “Justice” page is a space for conversations to continue and questions to live. What is posted here will probably seem a smidgen stream of consciousness. I’m cool with that. So, jump in and join the conversation.
The Pursuit of Justice
In January of 2012, the congregation I serve (Kairos Community Church) and I took decisive steps on a journey toward justice by engaging conversations in Bible Study that are proving transformative. In addition to the Bible, we have been wrestling with other texts:
The Politics of Jesus by Obery Hendricks
The Cross and the Lynching Tree by James Cone
The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander
Each of these texts present particular challenges which continue teaching us to privilege questions over answers, or, to borrow Rilke’s arm, to live in the question.
Justice Sermon Archive
Click here: Justice Archive for sermons and writings which I hope will stimulate conversation. Use the comment section which follow the posts freely and thoughtfully.
Justice Soundtrack Playlist
Each of our classes begin with a song to bring us into the room. After listening deeply, we sit in silence to allow thoughts, visions, questions to emerge. We break the silence in prayer and then our conversations begin. Check out the Justice playlist below:
